We’re publishing this special Tri-County edition of CIVICS as a standing resource for the important meetings that happen in Pend Oreille, Stevens and Ferry counties. Though we won’t send out regular newsletters (at least until we’ve grown into a vast news empire), this gives you a general idea of what public meetings happen in the more rural areas of Eastern Washington.
Pend Oreille County
Board of County Commissioners
The Board typically meets every Monday and Tuesday in the Courthouse located at 625 West 4th Street, Newport, WA. Meetings sometimes also occur on Thursdays. Public Comment is typically scheduled at 10:15 am every Monday, except on holidays. Agendas are posted every Friday for the following week.
City of Newport
Council meets on the first and third Monday of each month at 6 pm at Newport City Hall, 200 S. Washington Ave. If Monday is a holiday, meetings are the following Tuesday.
Town of Cusick
Council meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6 pm at Cusick Town Hall and Community Center at 111 First Ave and can be joined virtually via Zoom. The Town Hall is open Monday through Thursday, 9 am to 3:30 pm (closed 12-12:30 pm for lunch). Agendas and meeting minutes can be found here.
Town of Ione
Council meetings are the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7 pm in council chambers on 208 Blackwell St. The clerk's office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4 pm and can be reached at 509-442-3611.
Town of Metaline
Council meets the second Wednesday of every month at 7 pm in council chambers at 101 Housing Drive, Metaline. The Town Hall is open Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 1 pm and can be reached at 509-446-4641.
Town of Metaline Falls
Council meetings are the second Tuesday of each month at 6 pm in Town Hall at 201 E. 5th Ave. The Town Hall is open Monday and Wednesday from 10 am to 2 pm; Tuesday and Thursday from 10 am to 3 pm and can be reached at 509-446-2211.
Stevens County
Board of County Commissioners
The Board meets Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 am to 4:30 pm at 230 East Birch Avenue, Colville. Public attendance is welcome and encouraged both in person and virtually, but virtual access requests should be made at least 30 minutes before the meeting. Weekly agendas are prepared the previous Friday. To be notified when the agenda is posted to the web site, sign up for e-Notifications. City of Colville
Council meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 6 pm at City Hall, 170 South Oak Street. Agendas can be found online before the meeting. The city can be reached at 509-684-5094.
City of Kettle Falls
Council meets the first and third Tuesday of the month at 7 pm at City Hall, 580 Meyers Street. Agendas can be found online before the meeting and the city can be reached at 509-738-6821.
City of Chewelah
Council meets the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm at City Hall, 301 East Clay Avenue - Room 104. Agendas can be viewed online before the meeting.
Ferry County
Board of Commissioners

City of Republic
Republic is the only incorporated city in Ferry County. Its Council meets the first and third Monday of each month at 5 pm at 987 South Clark Avenue. If meetings fall on an observed holiday, the meeting will be held Tuesday of that week. Agendas can be viewed online before meetings. Reach the city at 509-775-3216.
