With Rep. Timm Ormsby retiring after over two decades representing Washington’s Third Legislative District in the state legislature, four candidates are competing to fill the wide open seat — three Democrats and one Republican.
The district, which encompasses most of the city of Spokane, leans liberal, consistently sending Democrats to Olympia. The top two vote-getters from the August primary will move forward to face each other in November.
We asked all four of them to give us concise answers to 12 questions about some of the biggest issues facing voters, like: what specific policies will they fight for to address housing costs? What state-level AI regulations do they support? What is their stance on the state’s current laws protecting gender-affirming care?
