One of the more crowded elections in our region is the race for the first legislator position in Washington’s Sixth Legislative District, left vacant by incumbent Mike Volz who is running unopposed for the Spokane County treasurer position.
The district is a rural region, encompassing the large areas west and north of Spokane city proper, but is also home to smaller cities experiencing fast-moving development and water contamination. It’s a fairly safe Republican district, but with four Republican candidates and two Democrats splitting votes, primary results are anybody’s guess.
We invited all six candidates to respond to our questionnaire — only one did. Republican candidate Alan Nolan’s responses can be found in the chart below.
