If you know details about the Washington State Supreme Court races, you probably aced your high school civics class. These nonpartisan races are some of the more obscure challenges on your ballot this August, but with a majority of the seats on the nine-person court up for election, it’s actually a crucial time to pay attention.

While there are five seats up for election, one is an uncontested primary, which means both candidates will advance to the November ballot. We asked candidates running for the four contested seats a series of questions to help you decide who to vote for. None of the candidates running for position 7 responded to the questionnaire we sent out or subsequent emails.

You can find answers from the candidates who did answer linked below, and if this isn’t enough to help you make your decision, there’s more to come: we’ll be posting stories on the race, linking to candidate forums and sharing coverage by other outlets that you can use to become the most informed voter in Spokane.
