State Board finds Lutz illegally fired

Preliminary investigation says firing ignored due process and vioated state law.

Hey y’all,

I’m out of town this week, but I wanted to pop in and say that the state’s preliminary findings in itsstate investigation of the firing of Bob Lutz is in from the investigating body, the law firm Ogden Murphy Wallace.

We’ve been covering this for months.

If it’s new for you (or you’re masochist), refresh your memory with posts about the initial firing, Lutz vowing to fight, the interregnum, the for real this time firing, and the state board’s decision to investigate.

There’s been so much more, but that’s enough info to get you up to speed for last nights ruling. Read the full report here.

Here’s a high level reminder of what the investigation covers:

It’s a long finding with lots of detail, but the high level summary is on Page 37 and 38:

In the last half hour, Breean Beggs — who sits on the SPokane REgional Health District board, and voted to not terminate Lutz — told the Spokesman he wasn’t surprised by the findings:

“It seemed to capture all the information I had that I’m allowed to share publicly,” Beggs said. “I will support the state board of health in continuing their process until it is concluded and then based on all the information, I will provide my opinion.”

You can read the Spokesman round up here.

Lastly, here was the sunset where I’m staying last night:
